FAQs: YCB Level 6- Yoga Therapist
(Equivalent to 800 Hours of Structured Learning)

The YCB Level 6 Yoga Therapist certification is a prestigious and advanced-level study designed for individuals aspiring to become professional yoga therapists with deep therapeutic knowledge and expertise. This program aims to empower yoga practitioners with scientific and clinical knowledge to manage various health conditions using yogic practices. The course syllabus is in line with the Yoga Certification Board (YCB) under the Ministry of AYUSH (Government of India). Post the study, students can appear in the Level 6 exam conducted by YCB.

Who is Eligible for the YCB Level 6 Yoga Therapist Course?

The minimum eligibility for the YCB Level 6 Yoga Therapist course is a Level 1 YCB certification, or an equivalent Diploma or Degree in Yoga recognised by a competent authority.

Note that eligibility here is not merely a formality. It is foundational to how this course is designed.

The YCB Level 6 curriculum is built on the assumption that you already carry a strong working knowledge of yoga practice. By the time you join this course, you are expected to know and practise:

  • Yogic preparatory practices such as Sukshma Vyayama and Sthula Vyayama

  • Pawanmuktasana Series 1, 2, and 3 in their classical form

  • The Ashtanga series of asanas

  • Several Hatha yoga postures with correct alignment and breath coordination

  • Pranayama practices including their classical techniques and applications

  • Core concepts of yogic anatomy, kriyas, mudras, and bandhas

This prior knowledge is the ground you stand on.

What the Level 6 course teaches is the next layer, the therapeutic implementation. You will learn how to apply these practices clinically, how to assess individuals with lifestyle and psychosomatic conditions, how to design personalised yoga therapy protocols, and how to work alongside physicians as a qualified Yoga Therapist under the Ministry of AYUSH framework.

If your foundational practice is still developing, we strongly recommend completing any of the course from YCB Level 1, 2, or 3 first through Ayushman Yog before applying for Level 6.

What are the career opportunities after completing YCB Level 6 ?

After completing the YCB Level 6 certification, you can work as a certified yoga therapist in hospitals, wellness centres, rehabilitation clinics, and yoga therapy institutions. You may also establish your own yoga therapy practice, work freelance or collaborate with allopathic doctors, physiotherapists, and psychologists to offer integrated care.

Is the YCB Level 6 certificate recognised globally?

The YCB Level 6 Yoga Therapist certification is a government-recognised credential issued under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, which gives it strong institutional credibility within India. It is increasingly recognised by yoga organisations and wellness institutions internationally. However, if you are planning to practise as a yoga therapist in a specific country outside India, we recommend checking the local regulations for healthcare and yoga practice in that region, as recognition criteria can vary.

How is the YCB Level 6 exam structured?

The YCB Level 6 examination has two parts, both conducted online on the same day. The first is a theory exam in MCQ format, covering anatomy, physiology, yoga philosophy, and therapeutic applications. The second is a practical demonstration exam, where you demonstrate practices as mentioned in the syllabus. A minimum score of 70% in both parts separately is required to pass. Upon clearing both, your Yoga Therapist certificate can be downloaded directly from the official government dashboard.

What certificates will I receive after completing the YCB Level 6 course at Ayushman Yog?

At Ayushman Yog, you receive a dual qualification upon successful completing the Level 6 Yoga Therapist course.

The first is the Ayushman Yog Certificate of Completion, issued based on your overall performance throughout the course, including attendance, assignment completion, and engagement with the curriculum. This certificate carries a QR code that can be independently verified on our official Certified Yoga Professionals Registry at Ayushman Yog, giving it credibility that goes beyond a participation certificate.

The second is your eligibility to appear for the official YCB Level 6 examination conducted by the Yoga Certification Board under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. Upon clearing both the theory and practical exams with a minimum of 70%, you receive the government-recognised designation of Yoga Therapist, downloadable directly from the official YCB dashboard.

This dual qualification means that even before you sit for the government exam, you hold a verifiable, institution-issued credential from Ayushman Yog. And once you clear the YCB exam, you carry both, an institutional certificate and a government-recognised designation, together forming a strong professional profile as a Yoga Therapist.

Can I join the YCB Level 6 course if I have a yoga degree but no YCB certification?

Yes. The minimum eligibility is a Level 1 YCB certification or an equivalent Diploma or Degree in Yoga recognised by a competent authority. If you hold a formal yoga degree from a recognised university, you are eligible to apply. If you are unsure whether your qualification meets the eligibility criteria, you can reach out to us directly before applying.

Is this course conducted online or offline?

The YCB Level 6 Yoga Therapist course at Ayushman Yog is conducted entirely online via Google Meet, five days a week, Monday to Friday, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM IST. This makes it accessible to students across India and to international participants regardless of location, without any compromise on the quality or depth of instruction.

How soon after completing the course can I appear for the YCB exam?

The YCB Level 6 examination is conducted every month. Once you feel prepared, you inform us of your preferred exam date and we assist you in booking through our authorised examination partner. There is no mandatory waiting period after course completion. Students who have consistently attended classes and completed their assignments are typically exam-ready by the end of the three-month programme.

What is the DPYT model taught in this course?

DPYT stands for Dual Phase Yoga Therapy, a therapeutic protocol developed by Ayushman Yog. It is built on the principle that yoga therapy works best when designed across two phases. The first is Morning Management, a self-practice routine that the client learns and eventually carries out independently. The second is Class Management, a therapist-guided session that focuses on the overall body and can be scheduled at any time during the day. Together, the two phases create a therapy design that is both structured and sustainable, building the client's self-sufficiency while keeping the therapist's role purposeful and focused.
